Mrs. Cora Martin Doane, age 78, a life resident of Covington, died at 9 pm Tuesday, June 5, at her home, 521 Third Street, after an extended illness due to a heart ailment. She had been quite ill for the past 14 months. Mrs. Doane was born March 3, 1873 in Covington, the daughter of Samuel and Lucy Cole Martin. She was married August 28, 1892 to Claude E. Doane, who preceded her in death in 1931. Mrs. Doane was formerly a member of the Christian Church but due to her health had not been active in church or civic affairs for a number of years. She was interested in her home and enjoyed her friends there. Surviving Mrs. Doane are: a daughter, Mrs. Wheeler McMillen of Hopewell, N.J.,; two sons, Martin of Joplin, Mo., and Earl, with whom she made her home; and four grandsons, Robert McMillen of Washington, D.C., David Doane of Joplin, and C.J. and Bill Doane, both of Covington. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Edward Martin, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Martin Groves. Funeral services were held at 2 pm (DST) at the Hegg Funeral Home here. The Rev. Paul Ingram, pastor of the Fifth Street Church of Christ, officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
